Words Alone

I have known Erick Phillips Garske for many years. His poems often center on lost love or the misunderstandings between lovers. His writing does not shy away from pain. Instead, his poetry faces it with honesty. Even in sadness, his writing carries dignity.

I was proud to nominate Erick for a Pushcart Prize for his poem in Anaheim Poetry Review. Even then, I saw that his voice was clear and memorable. He writes what many are afraid to speak out loud, but could be considered universal.

This collection shows Erick coming into his own as a poet. Each poem stands strong on its own, but together they tell a deeper story. Words can wound and heal. They carry our secrets and our dreams. Erick understands this balance, and he uses it with skill. There is solace in his viewpoints. Even when he writes about loneliness, he reminds us we are not alone in feeling it.
